Book Cover Ideas

This is the start of a series of book dust jackets for a book I am working on. It is based on the letters of a seventeen year old girl who was lucky enough to go out to Chicago for the 1893 World's Fair-Columbian Exposition and work for a gentleman who was designing small portable typewriters.

Fynn II

Here's an idea which includes part of Flynn's family crest, which I've redesigned for him. "Transfixus sed non mortuus" means pierced through, but not dead. Pretty cool for a family crest.

Barn Owl

I'm still trying to work the kinks out of the artwork for the bathroom doors. The client is having a hard time deciding on the background color, even though we have been working together with the Pantone color swatch system from the beginning. This barn owl is painted with watercolor, my old favorite. The Clinical Update cover depicts the diabetic juggling act.

Rejected Artwork
Bathroom Doors

I've been working on artwork for two bathroom doors for a restaurant in town. The gentleman has gone through many transformations to get to this point. I'll post them when I get the time. The woman was artwork that was already a logo, I just had to redraw it, and tweak it to the client's specifications. They will be printed using 3M's scotchprint process, it will be like putting a huge sticker on the door.

Day Five of Lenny's Photo

Well here's a full week's worth of work, and I feel like I've barely made a dent in this project as I review the work I've done. It seems to be coming along, but at a much slower pace than expected. I'm still happy with the outcome each day, and when it's finished, I think it will be a successful piece.

A New and Exciting Project

I have been given an old and extremely well loved photo to restore. This project is going to be exciting and definately a challenge once you take a look at it. From what I understand, the boy in the photo grew up to take over his grandfather's garage and turn it into one of the area's finest towing companies. Lenny loved his grandfather very much, and he and his grandfather got to spend a lot of fun time together in grandfather's old trucks. Those memories are precious, and I'm very honored to work on this photo. I hope I can do it the justice it deserves.

4x6" Pacific Parrotlet

This piece is "small format art" and I'll put it up on ebay this weekend. It was painted with watercolor and guache on pastel paper and mounted to illustration board. This was at a time when I was painting frequently and it shows in the brush control. I'd like to get that kind of control back, let's see what happens with this new found art form.
